Sunset Rock Trail

Overview

Sequoia National Park maintains a host of trails that leave from this small space. As you look at the Giant Forest museum, the trail located center on the left is the start of this great route.

Take the left trail that leads across the road. Trail markers to keep an eye out for are an "S" inside a yellow triangle. Due to the regular markings, this route is very easy to follow, even in snow.

Short, and with very little elevation gain, this trail is great for all. It's certainly worth the trip, but it's best to visit this location early. Most visitors will first be occupied at the General Sherman Tree, and an early bird here may be rewarded with as much as 2 hours of undisturbed time to relax in the winter. This is also an excellent place to have lunch.
