Evelyn Lake Trail

Overview

Leaving the fairly level Lyell Canyon with the John Muir Trail: Yosemite National Park / Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), the Evelyn Lake Trail climbs switchbacks through a dense forest. Gaining over 1,500 ft. in 3 miles, the trail crests a high saddle that provides views of the Cathedral Range to the west. Before the saddle is an intersection with the Ireland Lake Trail that spurs to a beautiful alpine lake. The last 3 miles slowly descend through open fields and past Evelyn Lake to Vogelsang High Sierra Camp.
