This entire trail is switchbacks, straight up, and straight down. Most of the path is well groomed and soft, although there are a few rocky spots. There are only a couple spots where you pass a creek and might get wet, even in the spring.<br><br>The trail is listed in the Smith River National Recreation Area as being 2.8 miles each direction, and there are two trees marked with a 1 and 2 respectively indicating the mile markers.<br><br>If you're looking for a fun jaunt up the French Hill with occasional views of the Smith Valley and Gasquet, then this is it.
