Lost Lake Trail

Overview

Lost Lake Trail skirts the edge of Deslolation Wilderness and really feels like a backcountry experience. Much of the trail is a long decommissioned jeep trail.

From the General Creek Trail intersection, the trail turns uphill and has some steep, rocky sections. After the initial uphill pitches, the trail mellows out considerably.

There are actually two lakes on this trail, Duck Lake and Lost Lake. Duck Lake is pretty, but shallow. Don't confuse it for Lost Lake and turn around. Lost Lake is only about 1/4 mile past Duck Lake and is a gorgeous natural alpine lake with spots deep enough for swimming.

The descent from Lost Lake is fun with some rocky technical sections.

Enjoy! And please leave a comment if you decided to hike it. This is my neighborhood, and I rarely see people out this far.
