Ten Taypo Trail

Overview

Though relatively short, this trail allows visitors to take a peek into a lesser known aspect of a this typically lush ecosystem. With fog and rainfall keeping the area generally damp, it can be difficult for visitors to envision wildfire moving through the area, however fire is a natural part of the life cycle in the park. While hiking this trail, keep an eye out for a grove of giant redwoods with deep fire scars. Even though almost half of the tree is burned away, many have continued their slow and persistent growth.

While the fire scarred trees make for an interesting stopping point, there is plenty to see along the way. The trail loops through old growth forests and follows along a creek. Enjoy the abundant undergrowth near the waters' edge, and take your time meandering along this shady trail.

To extend your outing, make a loop back to the parking area by using the Hope Creek Trail.
