From the junction to Deer Camp, this trail leads through a number of lush wildflower meadows, most notably Turner Meadow about halfway. The first 2 miles are gently downhill with a few creek passings and a few muddy stretches in spring and early summer. At 1.3 miles, Chilnualna Falls Trail branches off to the right, and you continue straight. You'll reach a fork at 2.2 miles with Chilnualna Creek Trail towards the left. Take the right side of the fork, and you'll shortly reach Chilnualna Creek. Large boulders make the crossing easy, even with snowmelt. The remaining half mile of this trail is uphill again through lodgepole pine forest to the junction to Royal Arch Lake.
