The Hogan Lake Trail is a moderately difficult climb above Taylor Lake through partially burned forest to reach the fairly popular Hogan Lake. The meadow section of the trail before Hogan Lake can be hard to find and follow. Hikers often use this trail to climb up the outlet to remote Big Blue Lake above Hogan Lake. A loop trail can be made for the daring and athletic hikers who climb the saddle above Big Blue Lake to reach Upper Albers Lake and connect back to the Pacific Crest Trail and north toward Taylor Lake Trailhead.
