McArthur Creek Loop

Overview

Designed with equestrian riders in mind, this trail can be a bit challenging for those on foot. This long loop is certainly worthwhile, however, especially for those looking to extend their trip overnight.

To access this loop, you'll need to start out either on the Orick Horse Trail or on the Elam Creek Loop. From there, this rolling loop winds its way around McArthur Creek. Situated away from the busier areas of the park, these serene trails allow hikers to slow down to appreciate the beautiful surrounding forest. As the trail moves up to the top of a ridgeline, views of the Pacific Ocean can be had on a clear day! As you head back to the beginning of the loop, you'll be able to take in the verdant views of the Orick Valley.

For those wanting to extend their visit, there are two backcountry campsites available. Multiple sites are available at Elam and 44 Camps, so be sure to check out the Redwood National Park Camping Page for more information.
