There is not yet a trailhead at the south end of Indian Tree Open Space Preserve, so this segment of the Ridge Trail is an out-and-back trip, going from north to south. Starting from Vineyard Road, hikers and equestrians explore Indian Tree's redwood and Douglas-fir forests on a shady and well-graded trip to the end of Indian Tree Fire Road. A number of viewpoints on the trail look out to different parts of Marin.
