NOTICE: Trails in this area were affected by the 2021 Middle Fork Complex Fires. Please check current closures in the Willamette National Forest before planning an outing. This short hike takes you to the summit of Little Cowhorn Mountain, where you can explore an old fire lookout and enjoy expansive views. From the trailhead, follow the trail as it rises steeply approximately one mile to the summit. Just below the summit are some atmospheric rock formations. The old 1960 fire lookout still stands. It is no longer staffed, but it was restored in 2004. The views from here are spectacular. On a clear day you can see the tip of Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mount Washington, the Three Sisters, Broken Top, and Diamond Peak.
