The hike in to Cedar Falls takes you into a little visited ravine below Cedar Mountain near the town of North Bonneville, Washington. This may not be the grandest of excursions in the Columbia River Gorge , but it is certainly one of the quietest. For those who really value solitude, this is something of an unknown gem in an area with a lot of interesting history. The approach is via the Carpenters Meadow Trail from the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort & Spa ($10 parking fee), and it's recommended you make the diversion to the summit of Aldrich Butte as well. You will be rewarded at the end of your hike by views up to an isolated waterfall, really quite impressive in the winter months, which plunges off cliffs of the Eagle Creek Formation.
