This trail is a longer, less-frequently used alternative to the Long Canyon Trail for getting to the Four Lakes Trail. It also provides an alternative route to the summit of Granite Peak.<br><br>From the trailhead, hike north for about a mile through logged forest until you reach the boundary of the Trinity Alps Wilderness, where the forest returns. From there, hike for 3 miles along numerous switchbacks to Red Mountain Meadows. <br><br>At 3.8 miles, pass the Granite Peak Spur, which leads to the summit of Granite Peak.<br><br>Continue to climb through meadows to reach Stonewall Pass at 4.5 miles. Enjoy the views of Granite, Siligo, and Gibson peaks. <br><br>From the pass, descend toward Von Matre Meadows, then climb again to Little Stonewall Pass. <br><br>From Little Stonewall Pass, descend again into Siligo Meadows before climbing one last time to Deer Creek Pass and the junction with the Long Canyon Trail.
