Spanish Ridge Trail is a spur off of Spanish Traverse Trail that leads you up to the ridge that the trail is named after. It is a very aerobically challenging climb from either direction, however I prefer to climb the north and descend the southern portion. This climb starts closest to the intersection of the Cascade Trail II and Spanish Traverse Trail.

Once you catch your breath after the difficult climb, you can soak in the views from the ridge. The trail follows the ridgeline, so there are a few exposed sections. The descent back towards Spanish Traverse Trail has quite a few switchbacks, but is a lot of fun!
Ponderosa pine, manzanita, and oak is the main type of vegetation cover. Pretty thin, so it doesn't provide a lot of shade in the middle of the summer!
Looking south into the American Valley, views like these will surprise you at many turns!
