Dogtooth Peak Trail

Overview

The trail branches off the Dinkey Lakes Trail just as you pass through the saddle of two unnamed hills in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness. Coming from the Cliff Lake Trail, the trail heads due north towards Rock Lake (and the rest of the other little lakes found in this wilderness). It is a short 1.2 miles from the Dinkey Lakes Trail junction.

It starts out as a pretty mellow, dirt singletrack trail that occasionally hops over a slab of granite, until you get to the base of Dogtooth Peak. Here, you'll start to do a little bit of boulder hopping and some really easy Class 3 climbing. You'll hike through a small little wooded area that is actually a cool little hangout spot before you get to the first viewpoint just below the top of Dogtooth Peak.

The climb to the actual top requires slightly harder Class 3 climbing but is still very doable for the average hiker. Make sure to leave a note at the top in the coffee can!
