Overview

If you're shuttling, bring a 4x4 to get through the washout after the saddle. It's safe to drive through in a capable rig with a moderately experienced driver. Your Subaru probably won't make it. If you're riding, it's about 1.5 miles of gravel climbing from the washout to the trailhead - a mostly mellow, middle ring climb. <br><br>Hardesty isn't high in technical demands, but it's steep in many sections (with switchbacks) and has a LOT of exposure and twisty/flowy speed. <br><br>The lower section straightens out a bit with less exposure, so the speed goes way up, but beware of the ferns hiding rocks and big roots.
