It is easiest to ride this trail from East to West but it is possible to ride either direction. The West section has some loose sections.
Decision time after 3.5 miles. This is facing west. Right goes to Kings Mountain (no bikes), straight ahead continues Wilson River Trail, left (just a few hundred feet, goes to Kings Mountain trailhead parking.

Go left quickly after the trailhead to continue to Wilson river trail heading west toward King's Mountain trailhead.

Beautiful, lung-buster climb immediately after turnoff from Elk Creek trailhead, Less than 1/4 mile long
The trail is tight with good grip on dirt and fir needles. The foliage can be close, but fortunately there are very few nettles.
Roughly just under the max altitude on this trail (a little over 1800 ft) and about 5.5 miles from the east starting point, after all that climbing its worth the moment to stop and take in this view.
