This paved rail-to-trail path runs almost 17 miles from the city of Cottage Grove to the hamlet of Culp Creek.

Following the gentle railroad grade, the trail begins in the midst of Cottage Grove. After meandering to the Mosby Creek Trailhead in the small town of Walden, the trail begins a very gradual climb up to the mountains surrounding Dorena Lake, a reservoir operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. After slicing through the forested shores of Dorena Lake, the trail returns to the countryside, passing through a few small logging communities, before finally terminating in Culp Creek.

Several parking areas and drop toilet facilities are along the trail, along with picnic tables and benches for enjoying the views. Although I would not rate this as the most scenic multi-use path I've ridden on, the lake is certainly calming in its own right.

Although paved, this can make for a fun summer ride away from the stress of traffic, or even a reprieve from the rainy grey of winter. The intrepid riders can combine this with the corresponding roads to create loops and other routes.
