This gravel route follows the shores of the remains of a 435-acre lake that was formed when the Siletz River was dammed in 1921. On the opposite shore lies the ghost town of Valsetz. This was a timber company town that was established in 1919 and had a population of 3,000 in its heyday. It was decommissioned and destroyed by the company in 1984 and only foundations remain. The dam was removed in 1988.

This route connects to the Siletz River Road (to the west) and the Ft. Hoskins to Valsetz Gravel Ride route (to the east). These routes would allow you to completely encircle the lake. Heading south from this route is the Fourth of July Creek/Rock Creek Road route.
