The Southshore Trail #529 has two segments a west side and an east side separated by a short portion of the Timothy Lake Trail #528 in the middle. The Southshore Trail #529 runs through Pine Point, The Cove, Hoodview, Gone Creek and Oak Fork Campgrounds and Day Use Areas along the south shore of Timothy Lake. While it is the most scenic part of the Timothy Lake Loop, it is also the busiest and most populated. For those wanting fewer crowds, stay on the Timothy Lake Trail that avoids the campgrounds.

Riders can park at the Pine Point Day Use Area (day use fee or Northwest Forest Pass required). Head east on the trail where it passes through the Pine Point Day Use, Pine Point Campground, The Cove Day Use Area, and then Hoodview Campground. Just after leaving the campground, the trail ends and picks up the Timothy Lake Timothy Lake Trail #528. Follow the Timothy Lake Trail for a short distance to where the Southshore Trail - East starts.

This part of the Timothy Lake Loop is wonderful for beginner riders including children. There are plenty of spots to stop for water and restrooms in the campgrounds. The lake is a great spot to cool off.
