Cottonwood Loop

Overview

This is a fun trail that climbs gently from the trailhead with a few curves. Then it sidehills along the mountain with a slight downhill grade—a fun reward for the uphill at the beginning! You'll have a few trees to haul your bike over, but it’s doable.

At the intersection with Cougar Creek Trail, you can go right onto the campground roads and directly to this pretty mountain lake. Or you can stay on the singletrack but you won’t see the lake. If you go on the campground roads, you can jump back onto the singletrack just before the boat ramp, on the left side of the road. That takes you to the start of the Cottonwood Creek Trail.

I don’t recommend taking the singletrack beyond Cottonwood Creek Trail to the south side of the lake without first checking if the Forest Service has cleared all the downed trees.
