A nice pavement-to-gravel road extending from the bottom (Highway 30) to the top (Skyline), heading east to west (as mapped). The grade is manageable for most at a sustained pitch of around 5%. Skinny tires work fine. Many will want lower gears. Little-to-no mud year-round.

Saltzman begins as a paved road on the west side of Hwy 30, winding up past a handful of houses. The pavement ends near a trailhead with a modest amount of parking and becomes doubletrack/gravel. It then winds up to Leif Erikson Drive, crosses it, and continues up to a trailhead with modest parking just off Skyline.

Expect to see hikers, runners, and dogs (some off-leash), in addition to cyclists. Take care descending, it's easy to go fast, and some turns are hairpins!

MTB/cross folks can use it to quickly access the back side of Leif Erikson Drive, as well as Firelane 5.

Road cyclists use this route to access Skyline to/from Hwy 30 without contending with automobile traffic.
