Timothy Bike Trail #537

Overview

This the hardest and most remote section of the Timothy Lake Loop. Timothy Bike Trail #537 was once called the Old 1916 Trail. It connects the Headwaters Trail #522 and Timothy Lake Trail #528 and travels east of Timothy Lake and parallels the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 which is closed to bikes. The trail is more technically difficult than the rest of the Timothy Lake Loop and offers more challenge. You'll find some longer climbs and some technical features throughout this section. Additionally, it's more remote than every other section, so you won't have to worry much about hikers. You'll, however, encounter the occasional horse group, so be on the lookout. Also keep a map and pay attention to signs as there are numerous logging roads that can take you off trail.

There are some really nice flowing sections at the western end depending on your direction of travel. They make for a nice climb if heading clockwise. Good free parking can be found at the eastern end of this trail off the side of the road.

The actual connection trail between this and the Timothy Lake Trail #528 is via the Pacific Crest Trail. You MUST walk your bike in this short (100 yards if that) section. It's over a marsh and is very well marked. There is no reason you should be riding your bike.
