Overview
The majority of NF-17 (also know as Pinemont Road) is gravel and the road conditions are pretty good for the most part.<br><br>Although doubletrack is always "less exciting" than singletrack, this route is very secluded and scenic. Nice evergreen forests surround the road most of the way, with only a few logged out sections. Occasionally, if the haze is thin enough, the brown of Central Oregon can be seen through the trees to the east. There is at least one amazing view of Mount Hood towards the south.<br><br>Starting from the north, there's a solid climb up to the start of the hills. These don't really let up until the southern terminus. There are some flat sections and downhills that help assuage the built up lactic acid but most of the time it feels like a climb. Thankfully, super awesome singletrack is waiting at the end. Take a snack break at the Surveyor's Ridge Trailhead and go have some fun.<br><br>Be mindful of the few motorists one might encounter on this route.
