This short but scenic trail section connects the Ape Canyon Trail (#234) to the Plains of Abraham Trail (#216D) for a great continuous out-and-back route. The trail takes you around Pumice Butte and then through the pumice fields alongside the base of Mt. St. Helens. The trail is relatively flat but has some loose, technical sections and crosses a few rocky washes as well.<br><br>If you're doing the Ape Canyon to Plains of Abraham ride, you'll bear right at a junction with Plains of Abraham Trail but the Loowit Trail continues to the left all the way to Windy Trail #216E.
