Overview

From the parking pullout at the bottom of the Middle Fork Beaver Creek Trail - #406, ride uphill (east) on forest service road 4225. After 1.2 miles you'll pass the bottom of the Bear Mountain Trail-#442 (you'll be here again later in the ride).
Continue climbing up road 4225. After another mile, you'll pass road 4230 on your left (road 4230 will take you to the top of the Middle Fork Beaver Creek Trail - #406 later in the ride).

Continue straight ahead on road 4225 for another 2.4 miles until just before the pavement starts, then turn right onto a smaller forest service road, pass through the gate, and take an immediate left onto Gabion II (one of the Loup Loup Ski Bowl's XC ski trails in the winter). Follow Gabion II for approximately a mile where it intersects with Eclipse and turn right (uphill) on Eclipse. Follow Eclipse for a little over a mile to its intersection with the Bear Mtn Loop at Bear Pass.

Head right and cross a cattle guard onto Bear Mtn Loop and head downhill a half mile to the top of the Bear Mountain Trail - #442. Follow the Bear Mountain Trail all the way back down to forest service road 4225. Turn right (uphill) on road 4225 and follow it for a mile to its intersection with road 4230 (you have ridden this one-mile section earlier). Turn left on 4230 and follow it 2.2 miles (it climbs for only a mile) to just after it crosses the Middle Fork Beaver Creek.

Shortly after road 4230 crosses the creek, take a left onto a small road that leads a 100yds or so back to a clearing/primitive camp area.

The Middle Fork Beaver Creek Trail - #406 begins as a doubletrack leaving from back right (northwest) corner of this area. Follow the Middle Fork Beaver Creek Trail back to the parking area.
