The trailhead is located on the Mission Ridge road at the last switchback before you get to the ski area. The large 'sand rock' is the obvious landmark with a large paved pullout. This is a good alternative parking spot for accessing the Devils Gulch trailhead without driving up a long dirt road and no need for a parking permit. <br><br>The trail has some rather rocky sections that require some hike-a-bike for most mere mortals. Descending on this trail can be a fun rocky challenge. Not really a destination trail as a way for getting to the Devils Gulch trailhead without having to drive up the Beehive road. A good ride is to combine this trail and the top section of the Devils Gulch trail to where Devils Gulch and Mission Ridge trails intersect.<br><br>The forest service publishes a very high quality map for the entire area - just search for Devils Gulch trail map.<br><br>Note: There is a rather exposed sandy section that can be a little intimidating. It is not so steep that if you slid off the trail you'd go very far but be aware of this section if you've never ridden it before.
