The Cedar Lake Lookout Trail, like its sibling Cedar Lake Loop, was not purpose built for mountain biking. This becomes evident on the east half of the trail which requires frequent dismounts including a large log carved into stairs.

While travel is possible in either direction, it's recommend to climb west to east past the cattle guard. The first half of the trail in this direction is steep with tight switchbacks but doesn't have too many obstacles. The top of the trail is an easy pedal through dense trees as it takes you to the Cedar Lake Viewpoint.

From the viewpoint, either turn around the way you came or be prepared for an adventure. If you take the second option, be ready to walk your bike. Also, keep an extra lookout for hikers in this complicated tech section.
